The M.Ed. Degree in Curriculum and Instruction serves needs of individuals who are seeking to (a) develop leadership skills in instruction and curriculum in educational settings in schools, community or technical colleges, business and industry, health services, and other social agencies, and/or (b) satisfy requirements for professionalizing an already existing Indiana License for Senior High/Junior High/Middle School, Secondary, Junior High/Middle School, or All Grade Education. Individuals who desire to professionalize a teaching license must hold a valid Indiana Standard Teaching License and complete a minimum of five years teaching experience in an accredited school.
Applicants seeking admission to the M.Ed. program in Curriculum and
Instruction must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university. A minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale is
required for all graduate courses taken at the graduate level at all schools
attended.

an area of endorsement.
Individual programs may be mutually conceptualized by the student and the

B. Teaching Area(s) of Endorsement(6 to 18 semester hours)
Those choosing to professionalize an existing teaching license should contact
Education Student Services to determine state requirements for their
content area. A minimum of 6 hours in the major and a minimum of
12 hours in the minor should be expected. A minimum of 12 hours
must be completed in one subject area for classroom teachers. Persons who choose not to professionalize nor focus upon classroom
teaching must complete a minimum of 6 hours outside the area of
professional education.
C. Electives Outside Professional Education (0 to 11 semester hours)
In general, one-half of the credit hours must be in courses numbered 600
or above.
D.
Culminating/Integrative Experience
Students
are required to complete CIMT 664 (3 semester hours) or a project
approved by the advisor and the Graduate Committee of the department.
The Core Area Studies in Professional Education requirements of this
degree are prerequisite to the integrative experience requirement.
